Find My Legislator in Pennsylvania (click here) TEAMSTERS LOCAL 8 OFFICER ELECTIONS Officer Elections are every three years 2023 will be the next Officer Election. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters have officer elections every five years. In addition there are elections for delegates and alternates to the International Convention and the all important contract ratification vote when the Union and Penn State have reached an agreement. On a more local level, you could during your time as a Teamster, have a chance to vote for a Union Steward. There are elections for county, township, state and national offices on a regular basis. All these chances to vote can make the task overwhelming and turn the voter off to participating. Voting for, or choosing your representatives at any level is an important, worthwhile and rewarding task that everyone should participate in. Most of the Local Union's elections only have a 50 percent or less participation level. This is about the same for all elections no matter what they are for. That means that a minority of the people are choosing the leadership for the majority of the people. This is hard to understand when you consider that in the Union elections the ballets are mailed to everyone with a postage paid return envelope. It doesn't get any easier than that. So the next time you receive a ballet make a choice and return it immediately. You really don't have a right to complain if you aren't willing to participate in the process.
