A Message from Secretary Treasurer,
Brothers
and Sisters,
On a financial note, in 2010 Local 8 was able to transfer over
$100,000 into the investment accounts and did not have to use any of the
investment money to pay for the picnics which cost over $30,000 — this is a
great accomplishment— we are finally seeing the savings from owning our
building and having membership meetings here.
The Human Service Committee raised over $4,600 dollars this year from
fundraisers such as Comedy Night, gun raffle and 50/50 drawings.
The Human Service Committee donated to four members that either had a
house fire or were off work over 6 months without pay and gave to the
Our upcoming fundraiser will be comedy night in January.
See more details on page in this newsletter.
Last year we had a GREAT time—lots of laughs and a good time was had
by all. Comedy Club
tickets are a great stocking stuffer for that person you don’t know what to
buy for. Feel free to
call me at the office for any information on comedy night.
Just a reminder that
these tickets are good for other comedy nights if you cannot make the
Teamster night that’s why this is such a good fund raiser because you can
use this when your schedule allows you to. Hope to see you there!
The one thing that is on everyone’s mind right now is the 2011
contract negotiations. Each member should have
received a contract negotiation survey—this is your opportunity to
give us your idea(s) for what you want to see in negotiations.
If you did not fill one out it is not too late. We need to hear from
you to know your thoughts on what you would like see. We all know the
importance of this contract so remember we need to be one and need to stand
together with the utmost pride.
It is a great day to say you are a TEAMSTER! Teamsters are a family
and I wish everyone another great year in 2011.
Chuck Addleman, Secretary/Treasurer
