The Technical Service Workers Of Penn State University

Teamster's Local Union No. 8 represents the Technical Service workers of The Pennsylvania State University at University Park and 22 Commonwealth Campuses across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  At this time, there are roughly 2300 employees of Penn State served by Teamsters Local Union No. 8.

A visit to any of Penn State's campuses shows the professional work ethic and dedication of Local 8's members.  Well manicured lawns, green spaces, clean buildings and systems that work are the norm for Penn State.  Teamsters Local 8 members employed in janitorial, housing & foods, grounds keeping, maintenance and tradesmen are essential in keeping Penn State a great place for students, faculty and staff.

Located at 1411 North Atherton Street in State College, Pa., Teamsters Local Union No. 8 has been the force in shaping better lives for it's members.  For the past 35 years, our past and present Teamsters Local Union No. 8 officers, and the unity of the Local Union membership, through sound labor/management agreements, have been instrumental in securing competitive wages and excellent benefits for Teamsters Local 8 members.

For an in-depth view of our past, please see our Teamsters Local 8 History Page.  There you will find a biography of officers and highlights of past labor contracts.  Also, I recommend reading and printing out the Weingarten Rights information page.  Our "Weingarten Rights" are very important and is something that every union member needs to know, regardless of what union you belong to.

To help members with job bids, we have created a Biographical Data page which we hope will help people put together that winning resume and land that dream position. Take a look at it and let us know what you think.

Check us out on a regular basis to see what is new and make suggestions for future topics or areas of interest.  Please direct your comments and questions to Jonathan Light, President and Business Agent of Teamsters Local 8.
